Transurban has completed the M7-M12 Integration Project in Western Sydney, with the M7-M12 Interchange opening to traffic on 14 June 2026.

The project has delivered an additional lane in each direction along a 26km section of the M7 Motorway between the M5 Motorway at Prestons and Richmond Road at Oakhurst/Glendenning. The major M7 widening component was completed on 8 May. The widening is expected to increase capacity by up to 30,000 vehicles per day, while the new M7-M12 Interchange provides a connection between Elizabeth Drive and the M12 Motorway. Transurban said the widening and interchange are expected to support development growth in Western Sydney through improved journey times, reduced congestion and better access to the new Western Sydney International Airport.

Transurban CEO Michelle Jablko said the benefits for commuters using the M7 would be “both immediate and tangible”. “We have delivered 26 kilometres of widened M7, making a typical peak-hour trip between Marsden Park and Liverpool up to 13 minutes faster and saving customers a total of up to 27 minutes when compared to the non-tolled alternative,” Jablko said.

The M7-M12 Integration Project was delivered as a market-led proposal by WSO Co, the M7 Motorway concessionaire. Its shareholders are Transurban, Queensland Investment Corporation and CPP Investments. The project is being funded through additional toll revenue from expected traffic growth, a 3.2-year extension of the M7 concession from 30 June 2048 to 12 September 2051, and a contribution from the New South Wales Government.
